Ok, first things first. Do you know what T-SPLOST means? SPLOST means "special-purpose local-option sales tax," and this month we're voting on transportation (hence the "T").
You've probably heard a lot about this upcoming vote. It's a penny sales tax that will go toward a whole load of transportation projects. Here is a nice list of the projects, broken down by city. 10 Metro Atlanta counties will vote on this tax, which, if passed, will be valid for the next ten years. It has been quite a controversial initiative, with many saying the approved projects will do little to alleviate congestion on Atlanta's roads.
No matter which side you come down on, your vote is important. The vote takes place on July 31, or you can vote early or absentee starting now. Here is the election information for the Atlanta-area counties:
- Fulton
- Dekalb
- Cobb
- Gwinnett
